August 2006
The American Academy Larnaca (AAL) in conjunction with the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) intend to launch a new Business Academy in September 2006. This will include becoming an examination centre and running a variety of courses.
Director Tom Widdows says that he is impressed with the wide variety of courses offered and the degree of attention to detail relating to learning styles and the use of language. Students can begin their studies in a wide range of business related studies at any level and any age. Courses are user friendly with a heavy emphasis on a positive partnership between teacher and student. The ability for students to take examinations when they are ready in terms of their knowledge and understanding for some of the areas offered is a great advantage. This also applies to the streamlined administration of examination entry where the centre sees the process through on behalf of each student from the beginning of the course until the issue of certificate. American Academy Larnaca itself have benefited from expert advice from Dr Paul Rogers (LCCI Cyprus Representative) and his staff.
Tom Widdows says that this concept was initially developed some 6 – 7 months ago during a meeting with Dr Paul Rogers and the Chief Executive of EDI. We remained in close contact ever since and we have been impressed with the personal service we have received as AAL and the attention to detail. LCCI do not just provide examinations at all levels but also pay attention to the way in which students learn, their environment, the training of appropriate staff and the relevance along with the continuous updating of courses. Students who attend our new Business Academy will benefit from the full use of interactive technology and as many LCCI courses are ICT based with appropriate links we believe that students will be well prepared for the business world of the 21st century.
‘We see this as a fresh opportunity to provide a service to students of all ages. Both the American Academy Larnaca and LCCI are looking forward to a long and successful relationship’.
The Business Manager of the American Academy Larnaca Athena Kranidiotou Gregoriou adds: ‘LCCI courses provide the right framework to enable young people to improve their employment opportunities. They enable students and adults to study at their own pace to obtain business-related qualifications recognised by employers. The LCCI qualification is widely recognised in Cyprus.’
‘The courses aimed to be offered at the new Business Academy of the American Academy Larnaca (which include English for Business, Practical Computing and Accounting and Bookkeeping) are geared towards achieving this objective. In addition, American Academy Larnaca will become an independent LCCI exam centre and this strengthens the links of the two institutions even more.’
The Chairman of the Council of the American Academy Larnaca Demetris Leventis says that it is great news that the Business Academy has introduced courses of such an esteemed organisation and that it is on LCCI courses that many of us built our careers.
Dr. Paul Rogers (LCCI Cyprus Representative), Mr Tom Widdows (Director of American Academy Larnaca) and Mrs Athena Kranidiotou Gregoriou (Business and Enterprise Manager of American Academy Larnaca) receive the LCCI International Qualifications certificate.
